Ceramic tiles

One of the things I got to pick was the ceramic floor tiles for my kitchen renovation which I found to be the most practical and clean. In general there are many types of floors available for the home such as wooden floor boards to carpets to tiles. Although I liked wooden floor boards, I didn't like the idea of the cracks between the boards overtime as it the wood contracts. Which was the reason why I choose ceramic tilings.

Benefits of Ceramic Tiles:

It's Stylish

There are actually a number of benefits of using ceramic tile floorings. For one, ceramic-tiled floors are stylish and have a range of designs available to choose from. Whatever type or size you want, you will definitely find one which best suits your needs and your the interior decorations of your home. There's also many colors and textures to choose from, so if you don't already have your mind set on one thing, you might even find yourself undecided about what ceramic tile to really want when you're at the tile shops.

Simple Maintenance

Ceramic floor tiles require simple maintenance. While other types of floor may need extra attention and maintenance effort, ceramic-tiled floors only need minimal cleaning. A little sweeping here and slight mopping there would be enough. You don't need to worry about spills and stains like carpet or dust getting trapped between floorboard cracks. I know this very well as we had a smooth concrete flooring covered with linoleum before. When the house was renovated, the floor was changed to ceramic-tiled floor and it was indeed easier to clean.

Long Lifespan:

The initial outlay of a ceramic-tiled floor may be costly yet when longevity is considered alongside the expenditures; you would realize that ceramic pavers and floor tiling is indeed cost-effective. The materials needed for placing ceramic tiles on the floor is just about near in value to the materials used in other types of flooring. It is the cost of installation that is slightly higher. Yet in the long run, its limited and easy maintenance will make account for its cost-effectiveness. If it's still over budget, there are also more ways to cutting cost of bathroom renovations or kitchen renovations that can reduce the expenses.

How to Install a Porcelain or Ceramic Tile Floor

Any room inside the house may be made with ceramic floor tiling: the living room, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and dining room. Even the patio, veranda and even the garage may have ceramic-tiled floor. In warm places, you might even find a house with ceramic tiles not just on the floors but on the walls too. Tiling, for some is a way to make a room cool.

The use of tiles also has a long history and has been around since the times of the ancient Romans, who discovered and utilized the durability of tiles. Since then, the durability of tiles has been widely known all over the world. Because tiles are strong, resilient and resistant to stains, they are used on floors which have high amount of foot traffic. Though tiles are not exactly resistant to impact, it is still considered durable on the whole.

In case tiles are broken or damaged by an impact, repairing it can also be done with ease. As a matter of fact, fixing ceramic tile flooring is much simpler compared to repairing plank or hardwood flooring. The broken pieces of tile need only to be removed. The area must be cleaned, the tile or tiles be replaced then applied with grout. Also, the time it may take to repair a wooden floor is even longer than the time to complete a tiled flooring repair. During initial installation, it is smart to reserve some pieces of leftover tiles so in case a tile is damaged in the future, you already have an available tile with you.

When it comes to floor designing, you are given a variety of choices not just in the colors and texture of tiles. Ceramic floor tiles range from small sizes of 6" x 6" to bigger measurements of 24" x 24". The squaring options for ceramic tiles such as Flemish style and brick & block make the variety of design options more varied.

I am in the process of laying some tile in my laundry room. I like the way it looks and how much easier it is to clean than carpet.

@IvyCrenshaw,

agree, I only like carpet in bedrooms and lounge rooms and tiles everywhere else. Although it doesn't hurt to have tiles in the lounge room too. I think it will look great with a rug on top.
