Almost all parts of our bodies are important. Each of these parts is essential in our day to day lives. The eyes for instance are that parts of our body that allow us to see our surroundings and guide us in our every action. Thus it is indispensable that we give our eyes the proper care that they need.

Being parts of the body, the eyes also benefit from the good and healthy foods we eat. In fact, optometrists will suggest eye patients to take healthy foods that will benefit the eyes. Vegetables and fruits, most especially, are the foods that will do great for our eyes as they contain all the nutrients like beta carotene and vitamins E, C and A which the yes need for optimum health. If the foods we eat are not enough t supply the eyes with all its required nutrients, supplements can be taken to ensure the eyes receive proper amounts of nutrition. Water is also essential in maintain the eyes. Puffiness of the eyes can be prevented when we drink great amounts of water.

Rest can is also good for the eyes. Eyes are what we use in performing our jobs and they can get strained when used excessively. For the eyes to function well, they need first to be rested. When dust or small particles get in the eyes, rubbing should never be an option. Instead, the dust should be flushed out with clean water. Rubbing can only cause further irritation that can result to stinging sensation and redness. When going outside, sunglasses must be worn for eye protection. The rays of the sun can be helpful in some ways but in other ways, it can also cause damages to the body including the eyes.

Exercising regularly can also be advantageous for the eyes. It can greatly improve the blood circulation thereby delivering sufficient oxygen to the eyes and all body parts. In addition, there are actually exercises that are meant especially for relaxing the eyes. For example, you may close your eyelids then rotate your eyeballs for 20 times each towards left and towards the right.

Another great practice in eye care is to visit optometrists, ophthalmologists or eye experts. Regular visits to the eye clinic will not only ensure that you still have a normal vision. Moreover, the eye doctor can immediately diagnose any eye problems that you may have and as early as then, you can be prescribed with medications to correct the problem. Remember that eye doctors are different from one another. There are the ophthalmologists who diagnose and treat eye ailments. The optometrists examines the eyes to prescribe therapy and corrective lenses.

There are also some myths and misconceptions about the eyes that we may do well to avoid and correct for proper eye care. For instance, sleeping with wet hair do not really result to blindness and nobody knows where this common belief has originated. Do not be discouraged to wash your face after you have worked in front of the computer screen. It is not true that it can make your vision to be blurred; instead washing the face can actually make your eyes feel refreshed. Reading under a dim lighting or while riding in a vehicle that moves will not cause damages to the eyes but nausea or headache. The eyes could however be strained when doing this that will cause such sensations.
